Crystal Palace might have found a better option up front than Michy Batshuayi and Fedor Chalov.
The South Korean has had an amazing start to the season so far having scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in just 11 games in all competition. He capped off his impressive form with a brilliant goal against Liverpool in the Champions League earlier this month.
His performances have been overshadowed by his teammate Erling Braut Håland who, like Hwang, has started off the season in magnificent fashion. The South Korean, however, is more versatile than his fellow forward and would be an exciting signing for Crystal Palace, more so than their other targets Fedor Chalov and Michy Batshuayi.
Chalov was heavily courted by Palace in the summer a deal to bring him to Selhurst Park failed to materialise. (Daily Mail) Batshuayi, on the other hand, had an impressive loan spell with Eagles and a report from the Mirror (8 October, page 53) claimed that Palace are keen to bring him for a fee in the region of £22 million.
Both Chalov and Batshuayi would fill the void that Palace have upfront at the moment but a player of Hwang’s quality would be far more exciting for the Eagles fans. The 23-year-old has shown immense composure in front of goal this season and the way he turned Virgil van Dijk last week should be enough evidence for Hodgson and co to make up their mind quickly.
Hwang’s contract with Salzburg expires at the end of next season which would surely bring in a lot of suitors in the coming transfer windows. Palace aren’t short of money thanks to the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United earlier this summer. Forking out whatever is demanded for Hwang would be a massive statement of intent from the Eagles hierarchy and signing him would go a long way in solving their current issues up top.
