Arsenal’s Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka has ruled out a move away from North London despite reports linking him with a switch to the San Siro.

Speaking to Swiss publication Blick, Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka rubbished reports that have linked him with a move away from the Emirates this summer.

Fantagazzetta reported earlier this month that Xhaka would be a pleasing addition to Inter Milan’s newly appointed manager Antonio Conte’s system and that the Gunners valued the Swiss international at a little over £35 million.

Xhaka has been a key figure in Unai Emery’s side this season having played 40 games in all competitions. The 26-year-old was one of the only players to have had a decent game in the final of the Europa League that Arsenal lost 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea.

Losing Xhaka would definitely be a huge blow for the Gunners despite his occasional slip-ups. Arsenal already have a huge void in central midfield due to the departure of Aaron Ramsey and selling Xhaka would prove to be a massive mistake this summer.

Thankfully for the Gunners, Xhaka has cleared the air about his future claiming that he is happy in North London after having extended his contract last year.

When asked if he will be moving this summer, he said: ” Not that I know. I have another four years contract, I only signed last year. I’m happy there, my family too. That’s the most important.”

Xhaka, who captained the Gunners in five games this season reiterated his desire to take over the armband in the near future. When asked if captaincy at Arsenal would be fantastic, he said: “It would certainly be the dot on the i.”

The Swissman still has a lot to deliver for Arsenal in the coming years and Unai Emery should not even consider selling him in the summer.
