Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are looking to sign Everton’s Ademola Lookman but the Toffees could get the better deal if they can get a player included.

Everton's Ademola Lookman

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig are preparing a £22.5 million bid to sign Everton’s Ademola Lookman.

The report reveals that the German side’s initial bid of £13 million was rejected by the Toffees, who are set to make a massive profit on their young winger they signed for £11 million in January 2017.

The 21-year-old has made just 36 appearances for Everton and his chance of more game time is unlikely considering Marco Silva’s preference for Bernard and Richarlison on either wing.

Germany has become a happy hunting ground for young English players, as evidenced by the likes of Jadon Sancho and Riess Nelson, and Lookman is no stranger to that, after making a positive influence in the Bundesliga. The youngster spent six months on loan at Leipzig last year and made an impressive impact, scoring five goals and providing four assists in just 11 Bundesliga appearances.

Lookman would certainly improve under Nagelsmann at Leipzig and Everton are guaranteed to make a profit on their initial investment on the young wide man if a move was to materialize. However, the Toffees could get a better deal if they can get one of their former targets in Jean-Kevin Augustin included in the deal this summer.

The Telegraph reported back in May that Everton, along with fellow Premier League side Leicester City, had made informal enquiries to sign Augustin. The rumours have since gone quiet but the Toffees should reignite their reported interest in the 22-year-old speedster this summer.

Augustin, like Lookman, has struggled for regular game time and a switch to Everton could bring the best out of him. The former PSG attacker has all the traits to be a top centre-forward in the coming years and his versatility would allow Marco Silva to give him more chances in the Premier League next season.

Augustin enjoyed his best ever campaign under now Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl in his debut campaign in Germany where he scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions. The 22-year-old can replicate that same kind of form under Marco Silva for Everton next season if he is given regular game time.

A front three of Bernard, Augustin and Richarlison with Gylfi Sigurdsson being the creative outlet just behind them will form a deadly attacking quartet for the Toffees who will be capable of breaking down most defences in the Premier League next season.

Everton should capitalize on Leipzig’s reported interest in Lookman by trying to negotiate Jean-Kevin Augustin plus cash deal this summer.
