An unhappy David Seaman reveals his frustration over Arsenal’s lack of ambition and their measly transfer budget for the summer transfer window.

David Seaman is interviewed during the UEL Trophy Tour Driven by Kia as it visits London on April 06, 2019 in Stratford, England.

Speaking to TalkSport on Wednesday, former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman did not seem impressed with the Gunners’ inability to spend big in the summer.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery will have just £40 million granted to him before player sales in the transfer window. The Gunners’ loss to fellow London rivals Chelsea in the final of the Europa League cost them a place in the Champions League final which in turn had a huge impact on their transfer budget.

Arsenal blew a massive chance to make it into the top four after winning just one of their last five games in the Premier League, which has made reinforcements an absolute necessity. The Gunners will also lose Aaron Ramsey, who will be joining Italian Champions Juventus, while Petr Cech has announced his retirement.

Arsenal are in need of strengthening in a number of positions this summer but the unavailability of big money has left former Gunners legend Seaman frustrated.

He said: “It’s so frustrating at Arsenal because the club is running on a good profit. The fans are frustrated at the moment, especially after the result in the Europa League final against Chelsea. It was a disappointing result, it was made a little bit better by the weekend result but it’s so disappointing.”

Seaman claimed that the Gunners were on the same boat as Manchester United but the Red Devils’ financial superiority will help them improve.

“When you look at Manchester United and Arsenal, they’re in a very similar situation – they both need to strengthen at the back and they’re both without Champions League football, so it’s going to be testing times,” he said.

“But I’d say United are in a better place than Arsenal because of their buying power and the money they will pay for players,” he said.
