Borussia Dortmund’s 20-year-old defender Dan-Axel Zagadou reportedly wants to leave the club this summer with Arsenal interested.

Dortmund re-signed former defender Mats Hummels earlier this week and the German World Cup winner is expected to partner Manuel Akanji in the heart of defence next season. This would be highly detrimental to Zagadou’s chances of playing regularly and a move away looks likely.
The Mirror reported this week that Unai Emery’s Arsenal are keen on the 20-year-old’s signature and, considering how desperate Arsenal are for a new defender, a move would make a lot of sense.
However, with the Gunners’ highly limited transfer budget for this transfer, Zagadou could well be out of their reach as Dortmund will be looking to make a massive profit with his sale. The youngster joined die Schwarzgelben on a free transfer from PSG but with three years still left on his current deal, he will not be cheap.

The 20-year-old captained the French under-20 World Cup squad and was hugely impressive there. He played 22 games in all competitions for Dortmund last season and his performances have been enough evidence to prove how bright a future he has.
Standing at 6 foot 5 inches tall, Zagadou is a colossal figure in the heart of defence but the youngster is also more than capable of playing at left-back. Signing young Zagadou will help Emery solve two key issues in his squad next season and if the deal can somehow be made feasible, Arsenal will have a real gem on their hands for the best part of the next decade.
