Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed his thoughts on full-back Christian Fuchs’ contract which is set to end at the end of the season.

Christian Fuchs of Leicester City warms up ahead of the Premier League match between Manchester City and Leicester City at Etihad Stadium on May 6, 2019 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

According to a report from Leicestershire Live, Brendan Rodgers has stated that he will “look deeper” into Christian Fuchs’ contract in the summer.

The report reveals that the former Schalke left-back wants to rejoin his family in Manhattan at the end of his current deal at the club but Fuchs could still be a player of some value for the Foxes next season.

Brendan Rodgers has turned Leicester’s fortunes since his arrival but their chances of a top-seven finish is over. However, Rodgers will be looking to achieve that in his first full season at the club and the summer transfer window will be of massive importance.

Leicester are keen to make Youri Tielemans’ loan deal permanent in the summer and if they succeed, it will eat a huge chunk of their transfer budget. The Foxes will need to strengthen other areas as well which could prove to be difficult in terms of their finances.

Fuchs has clearly been the second choice at the club behind Ben Chilwell who has had an outstanding season. However, losing Fuchs in the summer will force the Foxes into the market on the lookout for a new left-back which is an unwanted strain on their budget considering that Chilwell will remain their number one.

Leicester City are right in wanting to extend Christian Fuchs’ deal at the club by another year and they should push hard to do so in the summer.
