Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United contract will run out in the summer and the Spaniard is yet to sign an extension.

Rafa Benitez has been a hero at St. James’ Park over the last two years and losing him would be a humongous blow for Newcastle United.
However, the Magpies should look ahead in terms of a replacement if Benitez decides to leave and here are three candidates who Newcastle should go all out for in the summer.
Domenico Tedesco:
The former Schalke boss lost his job after a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League but the result should have no bearing on how good a manager he is.
Tedesco is tactically one of the best managers in world football and he would be a fantastic option for the Magpies next season.

The German isn’t someone who is scared to implement new ideas and despite a poor final season with Schalke in the Bundesliga, he is worthy of managing the best clubs in the world.
Gennaro Gattuso:
The AC Milan legend and the current manager has been linked with a move to the Magpies recently and he would be a real character in their dressing room next season.
The Italian, like he was on the pitch, is fearless and aggressive as a manager and he would most certainly bring in a winning mentality to Newcastle next season.

Gattuso’s energy and aggression on the touchline is infectious and it will have a positive impact on the players. Newcastle will have a real leader in Gattuso who would give everything for the club if they manage to sign him in the summer.
Michael Laudrup:
An absolute legend of the game, Laudrup has been out of management since the end of last season after his two-year spell with Qatari side Al Rayyan.
The Dane, in all fairness, would be a huge gamble to sign but it is also one that could pay off brilliantly.

Laudrup has managed in England before with Swansea City where he won the League Cup in his debut season. However, his second season was a disaster which cost him his job but Laudrup is still an astute manager who is capable of achieving great things with a club like Newcastle.
