Liverpool attacker Jota was in action for Portugal on Wednesday night, and what a performance he turned in.

Cristiano Ronaldo was ruled out of the clash with Sweden, meaning Fernando Santos called upon Jota to feature down the left flank.

Jota ran riot, bagging two goals and an assist, playing a pivotal role in Portugal’s thumping 3-0 win in Lisbon.

There’s a real chance that Jota starts this weekend’s Merseyside derby against Everton from the bench, as Sadio Mane is back and available once again.

Still, the £41million signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers has shown his quality, and the stats from his display against Sweden should leave Liverpool fans very excited.

Jota not only notched his two goals and one assist, but was a threat all night long, taking a team-high six shots, whilst also playing two key passes.

Jota completed a team-high four dribbles, with those numbers showing just what a threat he was to the Sweden defence all night long.

Jurgen Klopp may well be tempted to give Jota another start this weekend based on the form he showed last night, as he could be a real thorn in Everton’s side – but, as we knew when Jota was signed, he is primarily backup to Mane and may find it difficult to start games, but he’s at least given his boss a dilemma with such a great display.
