The Toffees finished seventh in the Premier League, some 15 points off the Champions League spaces.

Speculation is rife over the future of star players Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku and Koeman may face something of a rebuilding job over the next few months.

And while he will undoubtedly be scouring Europe for top talent, there are six players from the three relegated clubs who could improve Everton and help push closer to the league’s elite.

Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford

The hugely impressive Sunderland ‘keeper could be a target for a number of clubs with the likes of West Ham United also said to be keen. But Everton desperately need to address their goalkeeping situation with neither Joel Robles or Maarten Stekelenburg nailing down the number one spot this season. Reports claim Pickford could be available for £15 million from the Black Cats and Everton would represent a step up for the young star.

Sunderland’s Lamine Kone was a target for Everton last summer

Koeman tried to sign defender Lamine Kone last summer and handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through the move. But he eventually remained at the Stadium of Light and signed a new deal which could make him a touch more pricey than Pickford at around the £20 million mark.

Hull City’s Harry Maguire has been hugely impressive

After Hull’s demotion to the Championship this most saleable and desirable asset is undoubtedly Harry Maguire. The 24-year-old has been superb for the Tigers and is a rare breed of centre back who can operate at full back and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Everton would need to beat off competition from the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and even Chelsea if reports are to be believed.

Flying Poland winger Kamil Grosicki has got his career back on track at Hull after off the field problems. And he has been a revelation since signing a three and a half year deal back in January. His influence was central to Marco Silva’s excellent run as he came close to keeping Hull up against the odds. In the end it wasn’t enough to save the Tigers, though, and having proved himself in the top flight the 28-year-old would be just the kind of pacey assist machine Everton need.

Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore blows hot and cold but has bags of pace and potential

Some would argue the Toffees don’t need jet-heeled winger Adama Traore as they already have Yannick Bolasie to return from injury next season. But the frustrating former Aston Villa star has bags of potential and if anyone can get the best out of the Spaniard it could be Koeman. If Traore can hone his talent and produce more assist and goals he could be a frightening prospect alongside Lukaku.

Fabio would make ideal back-up for Seamus Coleman

While Ben Gibson will be the player most Premier League clubs would like to poach from Middlesbrough this summer, former Manchester United fullback Fabio could suit Everton as a squad player. The horrific injury suffered by Seamus Coleman means the Toffees need cover for the medium term until their first choice fullback is fully recovered. The Brazilian only played 16 times this season and with Everton in the Europa League Fabio could get more game time at Goodison Park.
