Previously on the books at Tottenham Hotspur, it seems Musa Yahaya is a FC Porto player after all despite no official announcement.
It is fair to say that Musa Yahaya’s footballing career has prompted far more questions than answers thus far.
After all, the Nigerian signed for Tottenham Hotspur off the back of some very impressive performances at the under-17 World Cup but was never officially confirmed as a Spurs player.
The mystery continued when he moved to Portuguese side Portimonense having not featured for the North London club.
But that was not the end of his movement with FC Porto then making their move, with Yahaya’s agent telling Noticias Ao Minuto that a transfer fee of £650,000 was due not to Portimonense but to Tottenham.
Simple, right? Well, not really, even if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will have been pleased to pick up a tidy sum for a player who never made it at White Hart Lane.
The problem is Porto never officially confirmed the deal, just as Tottenham failed to before them, so Yahaya’s actual whereabouts remained, if not a mystery, certainly a discussion-prompting topic.

Usually when a player signs for a new club, even a youngster, their new employers are quick to celebrate.
But it seems the mythology that began with Yahaya’s move to Tottenham has continued, at least until now.
Finally, as reported by Own Goal Nigeria, Porto have confirmed that the 19-year-old is indeed on their books.
It has been a busy year for the player, and Tottenham fans will be hoping they are not left to rue the day they parted company with him, even if they did receive what at first glance appeared to be an impressive sum.
