The Spaniard has been nothing short of sensational since returning to Brentford – if only Rangers had picked him up in January.

When the Daily Record reported back in December that Mark Warburton had gone as far as to fly to Spain in order to convince on-loan Eibar playmaker that Ibrox was the place to be, Rangers’ malnourished forwards must have been licking their lips in anticipation.
Kenny Miller, Joe Garner and Martyn Waghorn had struggled for goals in the first half of the season due to an alarming lack of creativity within Warburton’s squad but, after weeks of speculation, Jota eventually cut short his La Liga loan spell in order to return to parent club Brentford instead.
And, after netting 11 times in his debut campaign at Griffin Park in 2014/15, the Spaniard has picked up where he left off in the Championship. In his first six appearances since returning to the capital, Jota has contributed to a remarkable nine goals, assisting three and scoring six.

He even netted a hat-trick in an imperious attacking performance against Rotherham United on Saturday while Rangers, a day before, went down 2-1 at top flight strugglers Inverness.
In fact, Jota has netted just one goal less in the last six games than Rangers have managed as an entire team in the same period. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has also cruised past the tally of their most prolific midfielder – Andy Halliday (below) with three – all in a much more competitive, arguably high-quality division.

Therefore, Jota could have surpassed the expectations of even the most ambitious Gers fanatic. Not just for his creation but his clinical execution too.
