Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to miss out on Jensen Weir to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Earlier this month, The Sun reported of interest in Wigan Athletic youngster Weir from North London outfit Tottenham.
It was reported in the British tabloid that Spurs have asked the Latics – who have gone into administration – about the 18-year-old midfielder as well as his teammate and striker Joe Gelhardt.
However, Sky Sports have now reported that Weir is set to join Spurs’ Premier League rivals Brighton instead.
It has been reported that the 18-year-old will move to the Seagulls for a transfer fee of £600,000 and will join their Under-23 squad.
Disappointment for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham will be disappointed that they are reportedly set to miss out on Weir.
The teenager is a very promising and talented young player, and there is no surprise that Spurs want him.
It will come as a disappointment to the North London outfit that the teenager will join Brighton and not move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, Weir is only 18 years of age, and Spurs will get a chance again in the future to sign the midfielder.
