The Tottenham Hotspur player has prompted mixed reactions since his move.
When Tottenham Hotspur signed Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day, more than a few eyebrows were raised in North London.
After all, the French international had rarely shown he was worth the significant outlay agreed by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, while manager Mauricio Pochettino already had plenty of midfield options.
Despite that, Sissoko arrived and has played his way into a regular starting spot; something that has left some Tottenham fans angry.
But they should consider the bigger picture, because while Sissoko is – even at 27 – far from the finished article, he possesses the raw attributes needed to succeed in football and his weaknesses could be ironed out with a year under Pochettino’s tutelage.
The new Tottenham midfielder is a tireless workhorse with pace and power; facets you cannot teach.
His end product is not good enough, nor is his concentration, but with enough work on the training field he and Pochettino can put that right.
The Tottenham boss has worked wonders with other players, most notably Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, so why can’t he do the same with Sissoko?
In time the Frenchman could become one of the first names on the team sheet, with far fewer voices of discontent from the Spurs faithful as a consequence.
