West Ham United play host to Southampton in the Premier League today.
West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared what every person he has spoken to has told him about today’s clash with Southampton at the London Stadium.
The Hammers are currently sitting precariously in 17th spot in the Premier League, and could fall inside the relegation zone if they lose to Mark Hughes’ Saints side today.
West Ham have won just one game since January 13th, and with matches against Chelsea and Arsenal to come over the next few weeks, victory against Southampton will be of paramount importance.
Brooking, who made 528 league appearances for the Hammers, shared how the noise at the London Stadium must be great, if his former side are to have any chance of earning a victory against Southampton, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“The fans want to try and lift the team. Wherever I have been over the last couple of weeks, everyone has been saying the same thing – the noise against Southampton has got to be great.”
The east London outfit can actually climb as high as 13th in the table with a win today, should results elsewhere go their way, and what a huge boost that would be for David Moyes’ men, as they head into the final stretch of their campaign.
