Celtic midfielder Scott Brown is reportedly on the radar of Western Melbourne.

Scott Brown of Celtic is seen at full time during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sir Kenny Dalglish has predicted in The Sunday Post that Scott Brown will not leave Celtic anytime soon.

Brown has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million.

The 33-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the Glasgow giants at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park.

According to The Daily Mail, Australian club Western Melbourne are interested in signing the former Scotland international midfielder.

Celtic legend Dalglish, though, does not believe that Brown will leave the Glasgow giants anytime soon.

Dalglish wrote about Brown in The Sunday Post: “My belief is that Brown will stay where he is to try to win as many more trophies with the club as possible.”

The Celtic legend added: “Scott already has eight SPFL championships under his belt, including skippering the club to this magnificent run of seven-in-a-row.

“Could the thought of making history and going all the way to 10 titles be enough to keep him where he is? I’d have to say ‘yes’ to that question.”

Future at Celtic?

Brown will surely relish the chance to lead Celtic to 10 successive league titles, but the question is whether the Scottish midfielder would be as important to the Glasgow giants in two or three years’ time as he is now.

Although the Scotsman is going strong at the moment, the Hoops have to start thinking of finding a long-term replacement for the former Hibernian ace.
