Rangers and Celtic are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, and the Gers and the Hoops are also planning to progress to the knockout round of the Europa League.
Celtic legend Dalglish has said that sometimes it can be a problem for teams to play in the Europa League on Thursdays and then feature in a league game on Sunday.
Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post (Post Match, Sunday, September 22, 2019): “Between now and Christmas, I will be interested to see how both teams cope with the Thursday-Sunday fixtures. It could throw up quite a few twists and turns.
“This is the first weekend they’ll be playing off the back of the Europa League section, and it can sometimes be a strain, both mentally and physically.”

Relishing the challenge
Celtic and Rangers have big squads, and they should be confident of coping with playing on Thursdays and then on Sundays.
Moreover, playing in the Europa League is something to relish for the Gers and the Hoops, and the fans love it.
True, the Europa League is not held in the same esteem as the Champions League, but it is still a major cup competition.
The Europa League factor could play a major role in the Scottish Premiership title race between Celtic and Rangers this season.
