Scott Brown signed a new contract with Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic on January transfer deadline day.

As announced on Celtic’s official website on January transfer deadline day, Brown has signed a new two-year contract extension with the Glasgow giants.
This means that the former Scotland international midfielder will stay at Celtic until 2021.
The 33-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away from Celtic, withThe Glasgow Evening Times reporting of Western Melbourne’s interest in signing him in the summer of 2019.
Dalglish wrote about Brown’s new deal in The Sunday Post: “Sure, they got the likes of PSG’s Timothy Weah, Oliver Burke from West Brom and Jeremy Toljan of Borussia Dortmund through the door on loan deals.
“But their most-significant piece of business was getting Scott Brown to sign a new, two-year contract.
“In Brown’s time playing under Brendan Rodgers, I’ve been fulsome in my praise of the Parkhead skipper.
“The level of consistency he has shown over 80 or 90 competitive games has been quite remarkable. He’s been an absolute standout.”

Good decision from Celtic
Brown is one of the best and most combative footballers in the Scottish Premiership, and Celtic are a better team with him in it.
With Celtic aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title yet again and progress further than the round of 32 in the Europa League, Brown signing a new deal is a massive boost for the Glasgow giants.
