Sir Kenny Dalglish has suggested in The Sunday Post that Scott Brown will be a key player in Neil Lennon’s second spell in charge of Celtic.

Lennon was initially appointed as the interim Celtic manager in February 2019 following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City in the Premier League.

Following the end of the season, which saw the Hoops clinched the domestic treble for the third year in a row, the 47-year-old was handed the managerial role at Celtic Park on a permanent basis.

Lennon and Rodgers are different types of managers, and their footballing style is also different.

Former Celtic forward Dalglish believes that club captain and midfielder Brown will play an important role in the players accepting Lennon’s ways.

Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post: “Sure, there will be differences from how it was under Brendan. But they need to accept the new manager and work with him to bring even more success to the club.

As ever, Scott Brown will play a huge role in it all. He is a fine captain and the squad will follow his lead.”

2019-20 Scotish Premiership title race

Meanwhile, Paul Lambert has suggested that Celtic will win the Scottish Premiership next season as well.

The Hoops have won the league title in Scotland for the past eight years, and former Celtic midfielder Lambert does not think that the Glasgow giants will fail to make it nine in a row in 2019-20.

Lambert told The Glasgow Evening Times about Celtic: “They will still be a strong side, without a doubt.

“They will still be the team to beat next season. Rangers will try and bridge the gap. But it is good that Lenny has got the job.”
