Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths did not play for Scotland against Israel or Portugal.

Griffiths was not part of Scotland’s recent international matches against Israel and Portugal.
The 28-year-old Celtic striker decided to pull out of the games due to fitness issues.
Celtic legend Dalglish has given his take on the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker’s situation for Scotland.
Dalglish wrote about Griffiths in The Sunday Post: “Griffiths cited that he wanted to stay behind at Celtic and do training, rather than join up with the Scotland squad, as he felt that was going to be more beneficial to improving his long-term fitness.
“Now, there shouldn’t be a problem for any player wanting to look after his best interests. But I would have thought there might have been a way to find a compromise between Scotland, Griffiths and Celtic.
“Surely there could have been sensible dialogue between all parties that would have allowed Griffiths to work to a fitness programme – given to him by his club – but also be with his country over the past week?”

Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has suggested that Griffiths does not have a future for Scotland as long as Alex McLeish is the manager.
McAvennie told The Scottish Sun: “I’m not sure that we will see Leigh play again under McLeish and that’s bad news for Scotland.
“Clearly there’s an issue between the pair of them and I think they’ve both handled the situation poorly in some respects.”
Need for Leigh Griffiths
Griffiths is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and the 28-year-old has been playing well for Celtic in recent weeks.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has a lot more to give to Scotland, who are a better team with the 28-year-old in it.
Scotland fans should hope that Griffiths is back in the fold for their matches next month and beyond.
