Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the disdain he has for the wife of David Beckham.
Sir Alex Ferguson is back in the headlines, after giving a sit down interview to American television station PBS.
As well as revealing he was approached by Chelsea back in 2003, Fergie has revisited the Wayne Rooney saga, adding: ‘He asked away’, when discussing the England international.
He went onto refer back to another Manchester United hero he famously clashed with more than a decade ago, David Beckham.
Touching on the former England captain, Ferguson beamed with admiration for the Champions League winner: “How can I argue with his life? ‘He is an icon for young people.”
Ferguson did add a ‘but’, however. It is no secret Fergie was no fan of his wife Victoria Beckham of Spice Girls fame, who it was felt caused a wedge between player and manager resulting in him leaving the club in 2003.
The Scotsman said that Beckham ‘lost focus’, when he ‘married…The Spice.’
That is of course fair comment, with Fergie going onto say he was ‘astonished’ when Beckham joined LA Galaxy in 2007.
But it reveals the level of disdain that Ferguson had for Victoria Beckham that 10 years after her husband departed Old Trafford… he still cannot bring himself to mention her by name, simply ‘The Spice’ instead.
