Callum Wilson has been speaking to the BBC about the Newcastle squad and their trip to Dubai, where he made a claim about Joelinton.
What’s the story?
Well, Eddie Howe and the Newcastle players are currently in Dubai as the Magpies look to find closure following defeats to Chelsea and Everton.
The warm-weather training camp is also a good way for players to bond, which is exactly what Wilson and Joelinton seem to be doing.
Speaking to the BBC, the £20m man said: “Joelinton is definitely someone who you see around the place and his English is fairly good, but when you get him around an environment when you’re around the pool having a laugh and some banter and everyone is all together. What a guy, what a character.
“It’s made me like him even more as a person and a player. He’s definitely one who has stood out to me since we’ve been here as a team and I’ve enjoyed his company.”
Clearly, Wilson and Joelinton’s relationship has improved while Newcastle have been in Dubai, which is great to hear.
Of course, the training aspect is the most important thing, with Premier League survival still yet to be secured.
However, personal relationships can be just as significant when out on the pitch, so it’s pleasing to see the two strikers getting on well.
Joelinton is thriving at Newcastle

At one point, the Brazilian was arguably one of the most unpopular men on Tyneside as he struggled for goals, following a £40m move from TSG Hoffenheim.
However, the 25-year-old did not let the tough times bring him down, and in admirable fashion, he is now among the most popular figures at St James’ Park.
Some supporters have even been spotted wearing shirts adorned with Joelinton’s face!

In our view, he deserves huge credit for knuckling down and continuing to work hard on Tyneside – there was clear desperation to turn his situation around, and boy has he done so.
Hopefully, he continues to go from strength to strength under Howe.
