Jurgen Klopp has stated that Sergio Aguero is ‘one of the best I have ever faced’ in his managerial career, as he told his Liverpool pre-match press conference.

The Liverpool boss also added that when Aguero faced his side, in the colours of Manchester City, he ‘wasn’t too busy’ but he still managed to have a ‘massive impact’.

Over the years, Aguero had some unbelievable battles with Liverpool where they tussled for some high-quality Premier League title battles – and those are still going.

The 33-year-old cemented his name into the legendary books of English football, winning numerous Premier League titles and becoming the all-time goal-getter in English football for a foreign player.

That is some feat for a player that also had his troubles for injuries, yet he kept on churning out the goals like he had a Playstation controller in hand.

Nonetheless, this was the classy comments Klopp shared on Aguero after he announced his retirement on Wednesday.

“Massive, massive (impact on PL football),” said Klopp. “First and foremost, I really feel for the boy.

“He obviously made the move to Barcelona, not to retire but to have another exciting chapter in his career. Now, he wasn’t able to contribute because of his issues and I really feel for him.

“He had a great career and there will come a moment when he will see that as well. 33 is an age where other people retire as well, but for other reasons.

“The impact he had on the Premier League. The impact he had on football was incredible. I think the whole time at Man City, even before Pep arrived, the goals he scored and the importance of the goals he scored.

“Then, since I am here when we played against them, he wasn’t too busy scoring against us. But he was massive, he scored a very important one at least, if I remember. He was a great player. One of the best I ever faced.”

In an emotional press conference at the Nou Camp in Barcelona, where several big names were present, including Pep Guardiola, he announced the news to his supporters.

Aguero shared that he has had to call time on his career for ‘health’ reasons which is a crying shame because he still had plenty more to offer in his locker.

He moved to Barcelona in the summer to, initially play alongside his fellow countryman Lionel Messi, but he ended up moving to PSG and that dream wasn’t lived.

Whilst supporters weren’t able to see the iconic duo play alongside each other on the domestic stage, Aguero will still be remembered in a fond manner for the quite outstanding career he had.

For all the deadly strikers the Premier League has witnessed, it’s Aguero who stands tall above them all in terms of having the best goal to minutes ratio (108), which is quite something.
