Darren Fletcher told Match of the Day on Monday that Liverpool player, Andy Robertson, produced a ‘world-class’ performance despite Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to the Czech Republic at Euro 2020.
With Keiran Tierney absent through injury, more onus was put on the Liverpool man out on the left flank.
And whilst he was a constant threat out wide, he wasn’t able to stop a Czech Republic side from rocking up at Hampden and spoiling the Scottish party.
But ex-Manchester United midfielder, Fletcher, liked what he saw from Robertson despite Scotland’s defeat.
“Andy Robertson is a world-class left-back, it’s simple as that,” said Fletcher. “And he showed that here today.
“A captain’s performance. Drove the team forward. Led the team. He does for Liverpool and he does for Scotland. He’s fantastic.
“But he won’t think about that. He won’t think ‘Oh, well I played well’. The team lost 2-0 and he was captain. That’s all he’ll think about.”

It’s now a visit to Wembley for Robertson and Co. where they take on the old enemy in a mouthwatering Euro 2020 tie.
If the Scots are to cause an upset here then Robertson will need his partner in crime back on the left flank in Tierney.
That’s Steve Clarke’s side best bet of getting something out of this game because if those two are on song then England might just be dancing to Scotland’s tune rather than the other way around.
