England U-19 manager Simon Rusk has waxed lyrical about Leeds United youngster Sonny Perkins.

The 19-year-old has been doing what he does best for the Whites’ U-21 side, registering 9 goals in 14 starts in the Premier League 2 this season.

Now, Simon Rusk has decided to praise Leeds United boy wonder Sonny Perkins for just the talent he possesses.

The teenager, described as ‘extremely talented’ by former Leeds assistant manager Rene Maric started alongside Darko Gyabi in the England U-19 side’s recent 2-0 win against Turkey.

Perkins also played against Iceland, where his nation unfortunately succumbed to a 1-0 defeat, which meant their victory against the Turks was not deemed enough to quality for the U-19 Euros.

Regardless, England U-19 manager Simon Rusk raved about just how much quality Leeds wonderkid Sonny Perkins has in his locker.

“Sonny has the most important attribute [for a striker]: he can score goals. Any forward can smell a chance and Sonny’s got that instinct; he’s still working his game out which is normal.”

“He’s still growing into his body and understanding his movements and where chances might present themselves but Sonny’s got a track record of scoring goals. I’m sure his game’s only going to move forwards”, he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Sonny Perkins could be the future solution to a current problem

Currently, Javi Gracia’s men have a striking crisis on their hands, with Patrick Bamford looking miles off his best self.

While Georginio Rutter is still adapting to life at Elland Road.

If Simon Rusk is proven right about Sonny Perkins, he could prove to be an incredible in-house solution as Leeds’ striker for years to come.

While expecting the highly-rated goalscorer to be the solution currently may be far-fetched, he certainly has the potential to do so one day.
