Upton Park is in the process of being demolished.
Upton Park gate – West Ham
West Ham’s London Stadium will take centre stage this evening as the Hammers host Chelsea in a Premier League clash.
Meanwhile the stadium they left behind is fast becoming just a memory, piece by piece being dismantled and torn down so the land can be re-developed.
After seeing the pictures, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan hit out, suggesting West Ham should have found a way to keep Upton Park in tact – perhaps even donating it to Leyton Orient.
Whether Orient would have gone for this is another matter, but they are a club racked by their own troubles.
Their former owner Barry Hearn fought to try and stop West Ham moving into the London Stadium, fearing it would have a detrimental effect on their club.
West Ham’s move to the London Stadium has got off to a rocky start this season with fans criticising a lack of atmosphere and a more detached, soulless feeling than their former home.
Seeing pictures of Upton Park being torn down is not easy viewing for Hammers supporters.
