Simon Jordan has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are only Joshua King away from having ‘quite a substantial team’ this season.

There’s only four days left in the transfer window and Spurs are yet to sign a striker.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has done some incredible business this summer – namely the deal to re-sign Gareth Bale – but some Lilywhites fans could still be a tad disappointed if no covering option for Harry Kane is recruited.

That’s because the North Londoners haven’t spent money on a number nine since Fernando Llorente arrived three years ago, meaning it’s well overdue.

Bournemouth forward King has been linked in recent days [The Telegraph] and The Sun [13 September, page 61] reported last month that £15 million is needed to prise him away from Dean Court.

And former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has intimated to talkSPORT that Jose Mourinho – who’s also been given Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in this window – could have a serious squad at his disposal if King is brought in.

He said: “Tottenham are a good side. They’ve got good players, sneaking under the radar. You add Gareth Bale into the mix, whatever he is. And maybe if they sign Josh King they start to get into the territory of having quite a substantial team.”
