Simon Jordan has said on talkSPORT (10:09am, May 11, 2021) that Scott Parker’s comments on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier Leagu may not be appealing to Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy.

The Daily Mail reported last month that Fulham boss Parker is one of the managers Tottenham chairman Levy is reportedly looking at.

Fulham got relegated to the Championship last night after their defeat to Burnley in the Premier League.

The former Tottenham midfielder gave an interview on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier League after the Cottagers’ fate was sealed.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan was not impressed by Parker’s comments, and believes that they would not have gone down well among the Spurs hierarchy.

Jordan said on talkSPORT (10:09am, May 11, 2021): “Scott Parker is a real nice young manager. I listened to his interview after the game with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, and I was a little bit concerned to hear that he didn’t actually know why the wheels had come off. Because if he doesn’t know, then who does?

“Because he did know the answer because in the last six or seven games we have gone from a level of performance that was operating at a high level to a different level. When asked, the answer, ‘I don’t really know’, now that’s not much of an audition for a top manager’s job at Tottenham if you are listening to that particular interview.”

Parker is a young and intelligent manager, and he would know what has gone wrong for Fulham this season.

It is not always easy to elaborate in interviews right after a game.

Moreover, the Englishman would not have wanted to hammer the players who have not played well this season in public.

The issue with Parker getting the Tottenham managerial role would be whether club chairman Levy would be able to trust him in getting the team back to where they were.

Of course, Parker would be working with better players at Spurs, but the question is whether he is ready to make the step up.

Remember, Parker has been a manager only since 2019, and a relegation on his CV is not exactly something to be proud of.
