Simon Jordan says ambition of both Aston Villa and Wolves should be admired.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has given a thumbs up to Championship clubs Aston Villa and Wolves in their moves to add high profile players.

Aston Villa completed the impressive signing of free agent John Terry, while Wolves are on the verge of signing Ruben Neves from Porto, with The Mail reporting a fee is agreed.

The two players are at different stages of their careers but the deals are equally as eye catching, for different reasons.

Simon Jordan was quizzed by supporters on Twitter about the moves, and spoke positively about the ambition shown by both teams – although raised questions over whether Wolves new manager Nuno Espirito will be able to cut it in the Championship.

He gave particular praise to Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce for getting the John Terry deal done.

Wolves saw last season how hit and miss foreign imports can be, with many of their signings made in last August’s splurge no longer with the club – and two managers since departed.

Nuno Espirito has an impressive CV – he was recently managing Porto in the Champions League, but the Championship is a different challenge entirely.

For now there is every reason for Wolves fans to be positive and feel confident that the club are giving him the right tools for the job, providing they can get the Neves deal over the line.
