Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has failed to endear himself to the Celtic faithful on social media.

The outspoken businessman, who has been out of football since leaving the Eagles in administration at the turn of the decade, posted a succession of tweets on Monday morning – of which few will have been well received in the green and white half of Glasgow.

Responding to an article in the Daily Record on how Brendan Rodgers has transformed the players he inherited at Celtic, and will continue to see them improve under him, Jordan wrote: “Yes I’m sure they will by signing for clubs in the English Premier League”.

Celtic fans will be resigned to losing their latest crop of stars at some stage, having seen Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster flock south of the border in recent seasons.

However, Jordan continued to push the Bhoys fans’ buttons, suggesting that Rangers would be better equipped to compete with the Premier League’s elite were the pair to relocate.

He then claimed that Celtic would only last three seasons in England’s top flight – “autumn, winter and spring” – before taunting the Scottish champions about their failure to overcome Gibraltan side Lincoln Red Imps in this year’s Champions League.
