Tottenham Hotspur are currently looking for a new manager after parting company with Antonio Conte.

The Italian left Spurs by mutual consent in wake of his explosive post-match press conference at Southampton.

Now, Tottenham have apparently set their sights on Julian Nagelsmann.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after Bayern Munich surprisingly sacked him last week.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have initiated contact with Nagelsmann and his camp.

On talkSPORT, Simon Jordan gave his thoughts on the exciting reports linking Tottenham and Nagelsmann.

He described the former Bayern boss as a “very capable”, “very top” manager.

Jordan also played down suggestions Nagelsmann could find himself at loggerheads with Daniel Levy.

“Obviously the young man is a very capable individual,” he told Jim White, as per YouTube.

“He’s 35 years of age, you know… there’s this debate about personality and how he gets on with people.

“So if he doesn’t get on with a Bayern Munich crowd because of certain things, there’s a distinct possibility he might not get on with Daniel Levy.

“But the bottom line is, the guy seems to be a very top manager.

“And again, Spurs will want a top manager, they need a top manager.

“But they need a top manager that can complete some form of task that builds to a point where Tottenham can actually win something.

“And push back on this argument that nobody cares about winning anything, that they only care about being inside the top four.”

Great shout for Spurs

Nagelsmann is certainly a good shout for Tottenham. He’s a smart, talented, young manager who enjoys building a project.

However, it looks as though he’s still reeling from the shock of the Bayern sacking. With that in mind, he may not jump into a new job right away.

Spurs will fancy their chances of landing Nagelsmann, though a top-four finish is a must to help increase their pull.

Mauricio Pochettino is probably the other great candidate for Tottenham, though you could argue there’s too much history between them.

There’s a risk Spurs fans may have heightened and over-inflated expectations of what he can achieve, based on his past record.

Meanwhile, Nagelsmann would enjoy a clean slate and expectations would probably be a bit more realistic.
