Leeds United are currently in sixth place in the Championship table.

Simon Grayson has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Leeds United’s match against Nottingham Forest, that Thomas Christiansen’s side could cost themselves promotion if they do not invest in the January transfer window.

Leeds have worked their way into a strong position in the Championship table, after over half the season has been played.

And Grayson feels that second spot is now up for grabs, but only if Leeds invest in the coming weeks.

He said: “I do think they are a few players short of being the team that can push on. When I was here we were second and didn’t invest in January, and that cost us promotion.

“They need two or three more players to get them over the line, because it’s open.”

Leeds are currently in sixth spot in the Championship standings, but are only six points away from the automatic promotion spots.

Although Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be on their way to promotion, the rest of the promotion hopefuls will all have belief that they can catch Derby County, who currently occupy second spot.

Leeds failed to beat Forest yesterday, as they could only pick up a 0-0 draw at Elland Road.

The Whites have now failed to score in either of their last two matches, and they have a two week break from league action, with their next outing coming against Newport County in the FA Cup.
