Simon Grayson finds one word to describe Sunderland’s season so far

Sunderland are currently in 23rd position in the Championship table.

Simon Grayson has admitted to the Sunderland Echo that ‘frustrating’ is the word he would use to describe his team’s season so far.

Sunderland have still only won one Championship match to date, and currently sit in 23rd place in the table.

The Black Cats’ struggles were summed up last weekend, when they went got into a 3-1 lead against Brentford, only to chuck away their advantage.

Sunderland ended up drawing at Griffin Park, and Grayson admits that his side’s failure to get over the line is becoming annoying.

“Frustrating is the word we would all use because I keep saying I see them on a daily basis and I don’t think we’re a million miles away from turning the corner,” Grayson said.

Sunderland have actually shown signs of improvement recently, and are at least unbeaten in their last three matches.

However, until Grayson finds the winning formula at the Stadium of Light, they are unlikely to start climbing the league standings.

There are now growing concerns at Sunderland that back-to-back relegation is becoming a distinct possibility, unless a dramatic improvement occurs.

Sunderland are next in action on Saturday, when they take on an in-form Bristol City side.
