Sunderland are expected to be active in the summer transfer window.
Last season, Sunderland’s players’ attitudes were regularly called into question, as the Wearsiders meekly surrendered in the relegation battle.
The Black Cats were regularly accused of not putting in their full effort.
But Grayson will not be accepting anything less than 100% from his squad, while he is in charge.
And Grayson claims that Sunderland are in the market for players who are desperate to represent the club.

“We will bring players in to improve the squad, different characters, not necessarily household names, but you can do it with desire and a hunger to succeed. They will come here to work hard, not for the money,” Grayson said.
“I want players willing to do anything to this club and willing to give this working class city something to cheer about.
“We have a realistic budget – not top, not bottom. I’ve always worked with the best of a budget and as a Yorkshireman I spend money wisely.
“Promotion has to be the ambition, this club needs to be in the next one above.”
Two of Sunderland’s targets are believed by the Northern Echo to by Aiden McGeady and Jordan Hugill.
There is widespread recognition around the Stadium of Light that major surgery will need to be performed on Sunderland’s squad, if the Black Cats are to earn promotion in their first season back at Championship level.
Sunderland have already sold Jermain Defoe, Fabio Borini and Jordan Pickford and more departures could follow in the coming weeks.
