Bournemouth defender Simon Francis has suggested to The Daily Echo that reported Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester City target Nathan Ake should not leave the club.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham and United are interested in signing Ake from Bournemouth.

The Daily Mail has credited defending Premier League champions Manchester City with interest in the 23-year-old former Chelsea defender.

Bournemouth defender Francis, though, has suggested that the Netherlands international – who earns £40,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – should not leave the Cherries.

Francis told The Daily Echo about Ake: “Nath is a great age and is playing some fantastic football. I couldn’t think of a better club for him to progress at than here, because of the manager and our style of play.

“It could be easy for him to be lured to a big club where, potentially, he might not play week in, week out.

“But here, he’s playing in a good footballing side and he gets a lot of the ball, he defends really well and reads the game excellently. I think we are the perfect match for him at the moment.”

Tottenham Hotspur transfer

Ake is a very talented and promising young defender who has done well at Bournemouth since leaving Chelsea.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has shown that he gives chances to young and talented players, and the Dutchman will progress at Spurs.

The problem, though, is that with Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the team, Ake could struggle to establish himself in Tottenham’s starting lineup straightaway.

Spurs are playing well at the moment and are very much in the Premier League title race.
