Simon Donnelly has lightheartedly claimed on Twitter that David Silva should join Celtic for a ‘couple of seasons’.

The legendary Premier League playmaker is coming to the end of his time at Manchester City, but he’s certainly going out with a bang.

The 34-year-old, who earns £220,000 per week at Eastlands, scored a wonderful free kick on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Bournemouth 2-1.

Former City star and Celtic fan Trevor Sinclair posted on Twitter that he’d love the Spaniard to stick around a while longer, before ex-Bhoy Donnelly added his thoughts.

Celtic are going for 10 Premiership titles in a row this coming season and what an asset Silva could be for them in that quest to make history.

Sadly, there’s more chance of Rangers winning every single match next season en route to killing that dream, than there is of the Hoops signing him.

Neil Lennon’s side kick off their season on August 2 with a visit of Hamilton.
