Sheffield Wednesday drew with Reading at the weekend.
Simon Donnelly has taken to Twitter to praise the Sheffield Wednesday fans, and hopes that former Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce takes the Owls back to the Premier League
Donnelly played for Wednesday from 1999 until 2003, and the former Celtic star made the post on Twitter following the Owls’ match against Reading at the weekend.
The Owls played out a goalless draw with Reading at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Promotion push
Wednesday are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with 39 points from 30 matches.
The Owls are as many as 11 points behind Bristol City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
It is hard to see Wednesday end up in the top six of the Championship table this season, and with former Hull City and Villa manager now in charge, the Owls are not going to get relegated to League One at the end of the season.
However, Wednesday will be among the teams challenging for the playoffs next season under Bruce.
Adam Reach praise
Meanwhile, Wednesday manager Bruce has spoken highly of Adam Reach, and told The Star: “He is quiet, he’s got a confidence about him which is good, which you need to have.
“He has gone about his job and this club has been good to him. I’ve seen him score a 30 yarder down at Villa Park a few months ago and I have always thought he was a good player.”
