Former Celtic star Simon Donnelly has praised Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk for his performance against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Former Celtic star Simon Donnelly has praised the performance of Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on social networking site Twitter.
Van Dijk was on the books of Celtic from the summer of 2013 until the summer of 2015 before he joined Southampton.
The Dutchman was superb during his spell at the Hoops, and he got better when he was at Southampton.
Signed by Liverpool in the January transfer window, the 27-year-old central defender has been superb for the Reds so far and is one of the best players in his position in the Premier League.
The Netherlands international was in action for Liverpool against Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the league on Monday evening.
Van Dijk was brilliant for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as the Merseyside outfit won 2-0, thanks to goals from James Milner and Sadio Mane.
Donnelly was on the books of Celtic from 1993 until 1999, and the former Scotland international star has praised Van Dijk on Twitter.
