Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly wanted Ryan Gauld at Ibrox, with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur also claimed to be interested in the youngster in the summer transfer window.

Back in June, TEAMtalk claimed of interest in Ryan Gauld from Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur among other clubs.
It was reported that Rangers, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool all wanted to sign Gauld from Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window.
Nothing materialised, and the 22-year-old attacking midfielder joined Farense on loan from Sporting in the summer transfer window.
Although the youngster has not progressed as was expected when he moved to Portuguese giants Sporting from Dundee United in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3 million, Simon Donnelly’s comments about the former Scotland Under-21 international should persuade Rangers and Tottenham to keep tabs on him and monitor his progress.
Former Celtic and Scotland international star Donnelly worked with Gauld during his spell at Dundee United as assistant manager, and he has spoken highly of the youngster.
Donnelly believes that if Gauld plays regularly, then there will be no stopping him – comments which should encourage both Rangers and Tottenham.

“I am surprised Ryan isn’t in the Scotland set-up now,” Donnelly told The Scottish Sun about Gauld.
“He made his mind up to go to Europe at an early age and good luck to him. He has all the talent in the world but needs to play more.”
“I think once Ryan plays regular first-team football and finds a club that is a good fit, there will be no stopping him,” added Donnelly.
