Adolfo Gaich has been compared to Bundesliga sensation Erling Braaut Haaland amid speculation linking the Argentina international with a move to Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion, in quotes reported by San Lorenzo Primero.
The Whites and the Baggies are not just competing for the Championship title.
They are also going head-to-head for the signature of one of the hottest young strikers in world football.
Gaich, nicknamed ‘the Tank’ back home in South America due to his fearsome physique, is expected to make the move to Europe this summer with San Lorenzo’s sporting director telling FC Inter News that the 21-year-old has one foot out of the door.
What’s more, the once-capped number nine could be available for less than his already-affordable £13 million release clause.
Gaich has been likened to Bayern Munich legend Robert Lewandowski due to his size and deceptive skill on the ball, though he also shares a few similarities with another Germany-based goal-machine.
“Gaich has a very clear European future. He is not so much of a goalscorer, but has a physical strength similar to that of Haaland,” says former midfielder Peton.
“Selling him for less than £9 million would not be good business.”
West Brom have been linked via TYC Sports in May, while PassioneInter have suggested that Gaich could be on his way to Elland Road instead.
But while the 21-year-old might resemble Haaland from a physical point of view, he certainly lacks the same ruthless streak that has made the Borussia Dortmund striker an overnight sensation.
So far, Gaich has just seven goals in 26 games for San Lorenzo.
