AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi believes in-form attacker Suso can emulate three time European Cup winning star Roberto Donadoni, Football Italia reports.

While many Liverpool fans are bemoaning the loss of one of European football’s most exciting young midfielders on a free transfer, the Rossineri are reaping the rewards as they make their best start to a Serie A season since Max Allegri guided them to the title back in 2010/11.

The electric form of Suso has been an influential driving force behind their rise to third under Vincenzo Montella, with the Spaniard following up two sublime goals in the Milan derby against Inter with another strike and two assists in Sunday’s 4-1 win at Empoli.

And Berlusconi believes the 23-year-old cast aside by Brendan Rodgers has all the ability to reach the level of one of the greatest wingers in Milan’s history.

“He has many things that make him similar to Donadoni,” Berlusconi was quoted as saying by Football Italia. “He has great class, he’s able to get past one or two men and then shoot at goal.

“Now he plays more as a winger and must put many crosses into the box, but I see him more as a second striker so his shooting can be better exploited.”

Suso certainly has a long way to go before he can match Donadoni’s trophy haul at the San Siro, with the 63-time Italy international winning six Serie A titles as well as playing a major role as Milan dominated the European game in the late 80s and early 90s.

Liverpool will be hoping they don’t have a Paul Pogba-style scenario on their hands.
