Everton have appointed Marco Silva as the club’s new manager.
Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has claimed on Twitter that the combination of Marco Silva as manager and Marcel Brands as director of football could see The Toffees pick up some silverware.
Portuguese manager Silva put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Everton earlier this week, finally joining the Merseyside club after being linked with a move to Goodison Park all season.
He replaced former England manager Sam Allardyce who was sacked just sic months into his 18-month contract, despite taking the Toffees from the relegation zone to eighth in the Premier League table.
Osman, who turned out for Everton a huge 433 times during his career, believes the combination could work wonders and described Silva’s appointment as one with “potential and enthusiasm”.
Silva has a big job on his hands this summer to offload a number of outcasts at Goodison Park, with the Everton squad significantly bloated. The likes of Sandro Ramirez, Kevin Mirallas and Luke Garbutt are expected to be sold.
It remains to be seen if Silva can improve on Everton’s eighth-placed finish, but ex-Liverpool midfielder David Thompson reckons Silva’s appointment could push the Toffees into Champions League contention.
