Manchester United are reportedly interested in Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye this summer.
In comments reported by Sky Sports, Marco Silva has insisted that he is not concerned about Idrissa Gueye’s future following reports from the London Evening Standard that Manchester United want the Everton midfielder.
Gueye’s future at Goodison Park looks set to be a talking point again at the end of the season. As reported by Sky Sports, the Senegal international wanted to leave Merseyside for Paris Saint-Germain. And it appears that PSG are set to play an important role in getting the rumour mill up and running again this summer.
The London Evening Standard reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in the former Aston Villa man with Ander Herrera closing in on a move to the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season. Interestingly, the report notes that Gueye could be available for less than £30 million.
But Silva has looked to play down the suggestion that Gueye could be on his way to Old Trafford.
“It is new to me, no concerns about that,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“All the other speculation, now in the media, and that will come in the next few days or weeks, is something natural and I am not here to answer for all the rumours.”
“What is important to me – not just about him, but if you are asking about Gana (Gueye) – is how he is playing well, how he is performing well, how he is helping our team with full focus and working hard every day to perform like he did in the last game (a 1-0 win over Arsenal).”
It would be a surprise if Everton were willing to sell Gueye for less than £30 million. He does an important job within the Toffees’ midfield, and it would be incredibly difficult to replace him if he moves.
Even at 29, Everton should surely ask for significantly more. He has been superb again this season and losing him in the summer would be a huge blow for Silva’s men.
