Everton boss Marco Silva has commented on Barcelona’s Malcom.

Manager of Everton Marco Silva looks on during the Premier League match between Everton FC and Chelsea FC at Goodison Park on March 17, 2019 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Everton boss Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo that now is not the time to talk about a potential move for Barcelona’s Malcom.

The Toffees head to West Ham United this weekend, and will be hoping for a win to enhance their chances of a late run for European football.

It’s ultimately been a disappointing season for Everton and Silva, and more signings are expected this summer to take the club to the next level.

One player regularly linked with Everton is Brazilian ace Malcom, with Sky Sports claiming last summer that the Toffees were in advanced talks to sign him from Bordeaux.

Barcelona ended up winning the race, but have barely played the 22-year-old, which led to Marca claiming in January that Everton were back in the race.

Malcom’s name was cropped up again this week, but Silva has suggested that it’s not the right time to talk about transfers, adding that he is happy with his current wingers at Goodison Park.

“It is not a good moment to talk about the situation,” said Silva. “We have four wingers in our squad and we are happy with them. The summer will be the time to talk about the situation,” he added.

Malcom would come in on the right, but Silva’s comments offer some form of backing to wide man Theo Walcott, who has been heavily criticised by fans this season.

Walcott has struggled this term, leading to major fan backlash against his performances, and he will hope that Silva really does believe in him, rather than have one eye on replacing him this summer – which seems more likely.
