Manchester United v West Brom, Chelsea v Stoke, Arsenal v Newcastle and much more..
This could be another big scoring week for fantasy football managers, with Liverpool and Everton both playing twice.
We have profiled which players from those teams offer the best value in part one, so in part two we hope to cover everything else…
Goalkeepers:
Who would you back to keep a clean sheet this week? Certainly not Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who lines up against Manchester City’s star-studded attack this weekend.
A better choice may be Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy who faces a visiting, goal shy Wigan side in Sunday’s 4pm kick-off.
Joe Hart has been in fine form lately, but Swansea always look good for a goal and City’s defence will be missing Vincent Kompany.
Elsewhere Petr Cech or Wojcicech Szczesny should be the best bets, with Arsenal and Chelsea both facing home ties.
Defenders:
We recommend steering clear of Manchester United defenders at present after the club’s Europa League horror show last night. West Brom also have a very good away record and will fancy their chances of scoring.
Chelsea’s Gary Cahill (5.2) will could be good for a clean sheet, while with Ashley Cole out injured, Ryan Bertrand could be in line for a Premier League debut after featuring in midweek against Birmingham at left-back, and is priced at just 4.4.
Wolves Roger Johnson has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons this week, but the 4.6 priced club captain will start, and will be keen to prove a point in a relegation six-pointer at home to Blackburn, and could be good for a goal.
Following our backing of Arsenal for a clean sheet against Newcastle, left-back Kieran Gibbs offers most value at 5.2 along with midweek goalscorer Laurent Koscielny (5.9)
Midfielders:
Last week we hope you followed our tips to sign up Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson who scored twice against Wigan. Manchester City are an entirely different proposition though, and if he isn’t in your side, perhaps give this week a miss.
Roberto Mancini resting his stars last week caught a lot of people off guard, and it backfired with City falling to defeat last night in the Europa. Expect David Silva to start against Swansea, and produce the goods as the title race hots up.
Arsenal midfielders Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both reported to be fit for Monday’s game according to Arsene Wenger, and you should consider both.
Fulham and Clint Dempsey travel to Aston Villa, and it could be a mistake to drop him.
Bolton face QPR in a key relegation battle, and we fancy Ryo Miyaichi to score his first Premier League goal for the club. he has one in the FA Cup, and came closest to scoring against Man City last week.
Manchester United will be delighted to have Ashley Young back in form, and the midfielder scored against West Brom earlier in the season and will fancy his chances of continuing his form. He is priced at 9.7 and could be another good game away from a big rise in price.
Strikers:
If you read part one, Luis Suarez is our top tip, with Liverpool playing twice against Sunderland and Everton.
Apart from that it is difficult to see beyond Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. Van Persie will be keen to make up for his miss in midweek, while Newcastle have shipped 10 goals on their last two visits to London.
Rooney has seven goals in his last five games, and a home game to West Brom will offer more chances to add to his account. On the other side, Peter Odemwingie has scored five in three for West Brom, and could take advantage of United’s poor home defensive record.
Our other striking tips are Grant Holt, whose Norwich side host the defensively suspect Wigan, and Pavel Pogrebnyak, who scored a hat-trick against Wolves, and travel to Aston Villa this weekend.
