‘Silencing haters’: Some Aston Villa fans praise 25-year-old despite Brentford defeat

Aston Villa fans were left wowed by Emiliano Buendia’s performance despite their 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Sunday.

The 25-year-old produced a moment of magic in the first half, when his cheeky roulette skill saw him dance past Christian Nørgaard before supplying a well-weighted through ball for Danny Ings to open the scoring.

It was an outstanding moment of pure class from Villa’s summer signing and a sign of what he can do with the ball at his feet.

Throughout the match, Buendia was a threat in the pockets, constantly driving forward and trying to showcase his worth.

In terms of Buendia’s numbers, they may not match the price tag that Villa purchased him for in the summer.

But his performances, especially under Steven Gerrard, have been far better than the stats suggest and he is improving.

Villa fans liked what they saw from their player but, of course, they were bitterly disappointed at more dropped points.

There’s no doubt that Steven Gerrard’s side should have secured at least a point, but they shot themselves in the foot with a flat second-half display and abject defending.

But looking at the positives, Buendia is certainly one of them from today’s game, it’s now a case of him going on a roll and building on these performances.
