Signs show Tottenham Hotspur working hard to sign next Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to eye lower league prospects.

Tottenham Hotspur’s £5 million signing of Dele Alli will go down as one of the greatest bargains in recent history.

Alli netted more than 50 club goals in his first two seasons at Spurs, and is now valued at more than 20 times the figure they paid for him.

Tottenham have been surprisingly reluctant to follow up the bargain buy with more lower league captures since, but signs now show they are pushing ahead with this direction.

Just this week Tottenham have been linked with deals for two promising emerging talents.

The Mirror reported this week that Tottenham are tracking Rochdale midfielder Daniel Adshead.

Adshead made his debut for the first team at just 16 earlier this month, and is understandably attracting interest.

The Sun report Tottenham are also keen on Walsall striker Mitchell Candlin.

Candlin, 17, made his debut for the club last season and is an England under-18 international.

Both players would have to work their way into Tottenham’s first team, but they would be joining a club which have a track record of giving opportunities to young players.

To clinch the Alli deal Tottenham had to give the concession to loan him back to MK Dons until the end of the season, and that could be beneficial for either Adshead or Candlin’s development.

But it is a positive sign for Tottenham fans that they are continuing to eye lower league prospects and are not losing sight of the strategy which helped them on the path to their current success.
