With his career in tatters, it’s time to take a look back at where it all started going wrong for Joleon Lescott.

Joleon Lescott has not done himself any favours whatsoever in the last few years. Whether it was lackluster performances, comments in the media or extravagant social media posts the 34-year-old has deserved alot of the stick he gets from supporters. However, it wasn’t always doom and gloom for the former England international.

Over a decade ago, Lescott was enjoying his time at Wolves where he had been since the age of 18, when the big boys came knocking. After a play-off final it seemed as if Lescott was ready to lead another promotion charge with the Midlands side following their immediate relegation.

However that wasn’t to be, and he moved to Everton under rather conspicuous circumstances. The club were accused of bullying the smaller Wolves into making the sale, as the defender just kind of looked on and allowed it to happen. Whilst it was not entirely his fault, it was still an omen for things to come back around for Lescott.

The same thing proceeded to happen when Manchester City came in for him, and as the years went on it was when he slipped back into the Midlands with West Bromwich Albion, and then Aston Villa, that things really started to turn sour.

He had come full circle and upon completing his full betrayal of former club Wolves by playing for their bitter rivals, everything seemed to go pear shaped for the man who was once deemed the future of England’s defence.
