Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing the West Bromwich Albion winger.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle are lining up an £11 million swoop for West Brom winger Matt Phillips, and if they manage to snare the 27-year-old, it could turn out to be excellent business for the Toon.
Phillips joined the Baggies from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £5.5 million, and he has gone on to be a real hit at the Hawthorns, chalking up eight goals and 12 assists in 63 appearances in all competitions.
The 12-capped Scotland international can play anywhere along the front-line, and not only does he possesses exceptional quality, but he is also an incredibly hard worker.

With Newcastle set to sell Matt Ritchie, according to the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez will obviously have to bring in an able-bodied replacement for the Scot, and Phillips would be just the ticket.
The 27-year-old plays with a certain kind of drive and directness that would provide Rafa with an entirely different option in the final third, and he would undoubtedly help the Magpies improve upon the potency of their attacking play.
In today’s day and age, £11 million for a player of Phillips’ quality represent excellent value for money, and if Rafa does manage to bring him to St James’ Park, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Newcastle.
