Brendan Rodgers suggested Celtic want to tie Olivier Ntcham down to a new deal.

Olivier Ntcham of Celtic celebrates after scoring his team's second goal during the Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Motherwell at Hampden Park on May 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Brendan Rodgers commented on linked-away Olivier Ntcham’s future at Celtic yesterday.

Rodgers said: “He is happy here where he is playing and again that will be something myself and his representatives will be able to talk about and organise.”

Ntcham has been linked with a move away from Celtic this summer and the Hoops have already rejected a £13 million bid by Porto, according to Goal.com.

But it looks like the Northern Irishman has hinted that a contract extension could be in the pipeline – and that would be an excellent decision by the Parkhead club.

If Dedryck Boyata leaves Celtic this summer, which seems increasingly likely, then it’ll be for far less than he’s worth, given the fact that he only has a year left on his contract.

The Belgian still might command an eight-figure transfer fee. That’s for a 27-year-old with one year to go on his existing contract. Ntcham is a 22-year-old with three years left at the moment.

If the former Manchester City youth continues his rapid progression and signs a new deal, then this is a player worth an absolute fortune to the Bhoys and signing him up as soon as possible should be a priority.
