The Liverpool striker has been linked with a temporary switch to Southampton.

With the January transfer window set to open, there is much speculation regarding possible deals.
Southampton, for instance, are interested in signing Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan, as reported by The Sun.
Sturridge has endured much misfortune with injuries in recent years, but although he has been fit for the majority of this campaign, he has been unable to command a regular place in the Liverpool starting lineup ahead of Roberto Firmino.

Signing a new striker would certainly be hugely beneficial for Southampton, as they cannot rely solely upon Charlie Austin, who is their top scorer this season with six goals.
After an encouraging start to his Southampton career, Manolo Gabbiadini has struggled this season, while Shane Long lacks the sharpness required to provide a consistent threat.

If he can stay fit then Sturridge would be an excellent loan signing for Southampton and the 28-year-old would surely relish being the star man for Mauricio Pellegrini’s side.
The fact that Sturridge possesses a vast amount of Premier League experience and has proven that he can torment opposing defenders with his pace and trickery suggests that this could be one of the deals of the window if Southampton are able to convince Liverpool to loan him out.
